“Why should I care for a dead media?” You might ask. The answer: Because I’m telling you so. Yes, I’m telling you to care. But that’s not the reason you should.
The actual reason you should buy or at least listen to an album in vinyl is: To experience the full journey of a band’s work. When you play a vinyl, since it can’t shuffle like a CD or MP3 library, you will listen and feel the band’s work as it was intended to be.
Today’s media has corrupted the whole concept of an “album”, back in the old days we would listen to “Who’s Next” from the first track to the last, over and over. Because there was that hint of an art work and the likeness of a storytelling in every LP, this feeling is almost lost nowadays.
The only light of hope is that some new bands and some old-dogs still release their works in a vinyl format. New bands like THE KILLERS, for instance, and good old dogs like THE DAVE MATTHEWS BAND. Of course, there’s always that local record store, that one you pass in front every day but you simply didn’t mind to go inside.
Well, this’s your chance. Go buy a record player, a used one works perfectly, and some vinyls. You will NOT regret the whole experience. For those who live in the Toronto/ON (Canada) area, here goes a tip:
